Swell Cabin

Privacy

Swell Cabin is a surf trip planner. You don't need an account to use it, and we don't sell data.

Basic visit statistics (always on)

We count page views, the country, the device type and which site sent you, using Vercel Web Analytics. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you.

Analytics and session recordings (only if you allow them)

If you click Allow on the banner, we also use PostHog and Microsoft Clarity. They set cookies and record how you use the site (pages, taps and clicks, scrolling and a replay of the session) so we can see what works and fix what doesn't. Anything you type into a form is masked and never recorded. If you click No thanks, none of this loads.

Your account (only if you sign in)

You can sign in with Google, Facebook or a link sent to your email, so the towns you save follow you to every device. We keep your email address, your name and how you signed in (as Google or Facebook share them with us), and the towns you saved. Nothing else: we don't see your Google or Facebook password, friends or posts, and we never post anything for you. Accounts are kept by Supabase in the EU (Frankfurt); sign-in emails are sent by Resend. Signing in stores a session on your device so you stay signed in; signing out removes it.

Deleting your account

Open the site, tap your initial at the top of the page (Your account), then Delete my account and Delete. Your account, your email, your name and the towns saved in it are deleted straight away and for good. This also deletes everything we got from Facebook or Google when you signed in. To stop sharing with us on their side too, remove Swell Cabin under Facebook → Settings → Apps and websites, or your Google Account → Security → Third-party connections.

AI assistants (the MCP server)

Claude, ChatGPT and other AI assistants can look things up on Swell Cabin through its MCP server. It needs no account and never sees your conversation: the assistant sends it only what one lookup needs, such as a town, a month, a surf level or a point on the map, and gets back the same public surf data as this site. We don't keep a record of these lookups, don't use them to track or profile anyone, and don't share or sell them. Like every visit, they pass through our host Vercel, whose short technical logs (time, address, page) are there only to keep the site running. To answer, the server may ask public services for a town's data (the forecast from Open-Meteo and MET Norway, places from OpenStreetMap, videos from YouTube); it sends them the town's location, never anything about you.

Maps, photos and links

The map loads tiles from OpenFreeMap, Esri and AWS; spot photos come from Wikimedia Commons (and Flickr), and some photos of places to stay, cafés and restaurants come from Google Maps (googleusercontent.com). These services receive your IP address when your browser fetches their images. Links to websites, Reddit, Facebook and other services take you to those sites, under their own policies.
