# Swell Cabin for AI assistants (MCP server)

Swell Cabin's MCP server lets an AI assistant answer surf trip questions with the same data as this site: 130 surf towns and 492 surf spots, a 7-day surf forecast rated for each spot, what the surf cams show right now, wave pools, places to stay and what's new in each town.

- Every tool only reads: it never changes, books or posts anything.

## Tools

- `search_towns` (Search surf towns): Find surf towns by place, region, month, level or wave type; with a month, ranked by how often the surf was really good then.
- `get_town` (Get a surf town): One town in full: its season, water temperature, waves, levels, surf spots, surf by month and how sure we are of its data.

## Where the data comes from

The same sources as the site: wave and wind forecasts (Open-Meteo, MET Norway) checked against buoys and satellite altimeters, sea temperatures measured by NASA and NOAA satellites, places from OpenStreetMap, surf cams from their owners, and videos and posts from YouTube and Instagram. Answers say how sure we are of each town's data.

## Privacy and fair use

The server only sees what the assistant sends to a tool, such as a town, a month or a level, never your conversation. It needs no account, doesn't keep a record of your questions, and doesn't track you. See https://swellcabin.com/privacy and https://swellcabin.com/terms.
